J.Crew is looking for a skilled content strategist who deeply understands both the visual and strategic landscape of social media, with a strong foundation in content production, creative thought-leadership, social and digital media.  In this role, you’ll help guide designers, content creators, UX, and analytics teams to deliver great solutions. You’ll be the connective thread to ensure brand and social content is synced and optimized across channels, while being focused on elevating and evolving our social channels distinctly.


Primary responsibilities include:


  • Ability to dig deep into data and research to uncover audience insights, and use that knowledge to guide both the development and management of engaging, human-centered content and solutions that reflect J.Crew’s goals. 
  • Use every tool in your content arsenal – persona development, brand strategy, content strategy, messaging framework, campaign plan, nurture strategy, message map, user journey, content audit, gap analysis, and more – to identify the most compelling opportunities for internal content production, social franchising and partnerships, and then follow-up with a strong POV, strategic framework, and actionable solution to capitalize on those opportunities. 
  • Report to and support the VP of Brand Marketing, Digital Experience and PR on brand strategy within our social channels and idea development for seasonal and monthly planning 
  • Work in partnership with our Art Director for social and video on all production and visual strategy
  • Cultivate, manage and own the agency relationships for social insights and content production
  • Manage Women’s and Men’s social strategists, assuring timely posting, insights reporting and effective community management, as well as be the owner of the social creative production and digital spend budgets
  • Serve as an excellent cross-functional partner to PR, Brand Marketing, International, Design & Creative, and Merchandising teams so that our social channel is aligned with all marketing, but then clarifies it uniquely and distinctly
  • Work closely with our social production manager and social producer to ensure that content is produced according to deadline and meets goals and key initiatives with the best final results
  • Support on crisis management as needed with customer service responses and social media issues 




  • 5-7 years of experience in content strategy and production, either agency-side or internally (preferred)
  • At least 3 years experience in a dedicated social media role 
  • Experience in leading a team and working in a cross-functional organization
  • BS/BA degree in Communications, or equivalent
  • Keen understanding of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snap, and Pinterest
  • Experience working with social insights tools: Sprout, Curalate, Olapic preferred
  • Detail-oriented, team player with creative problem solving and excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility & Time Management: ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and take responsibilities for deadlines.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with a variety of people across different disciplines
