Sr. Director - Accounting Operations

Seeking a dynamic accounting professional with the capacity to lead a team of 20-plus accounting staff members with 4 direct reports. This is a high visibility, high impact position reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the operations in the accounting shared services departments which include accounts payable, sales audit, indirect tax, and unclaimed property.
  • Ensure successful preparation for a transition services agreement (TSA) with a former subsidiary of a consolidated group.  
  • Achieve future SLA targets pursuant to services provided under TSA.
  • Create relationships and work closely with trusted business partners, including Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, etc. Participate in cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and foster a customer service culture.
  • Responsible for talent management activities such as: hiring, promotions, transfers, training and development, providing regular direction and feedback on performance, disciplinary actions and preparing and delivering annual performance and salary reviews.
  • Develop short- and long-range operating objectives, organizational structure, staffing requirements and succession plans.
  • Ensure process documentation and internal controls are in compliance with company policies and supports statutory compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of departmental training programs, including orientation materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Excellent analytical skills along with verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to establish, develop, and maintain productive business relationships at all levels of the organization

 

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA preferred.  

Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive management and leadership experience, including several years managing the accounting functions for a shared service center. Must have verifiable experience managing a group of 10 or more accounting - finance staff members.

Soft Skills: Comfortable with embracing what is working, while developing innovative solutions for current challenges. Ability to lead by example, manage, motivate and relate to a diverse team with a wide range of education and experience.
