Sourcing Strategy

  • Drive the planning, execution and communication of feature elements of the direct sourcing model for direct vendor shift, strategic agent usage and COO shifts that contributes to meeting or exceeding financial goals
  • Manage and develop a direct vendor/factory base that includes key sourcing model elements of: capacity planning and management, category planning and aligning organizational infrastructures
  • Define Asia operating processes in line with operational vision, consistent with the defined role for in-country teams and enabling calendar adherence to deadlines for assigned business categories
  • Develop and implement approach to introducing new COOs including ramp up, target product categories, risk assessment and optimal Vendor base size
  • Produce and publish COO playbooks that includes macro-economic trends, labor availability and rate, trade preference agreements with any J. Crew countries of import
  • Publish quarterly reports of KPIs and metrics reflecting direct sourcing strategy execution status  
  • Establish and lead effective relationships with cross-functional leaders in the execution of sourcing initiatives
  • Manage key initiatives, projects and priorities to achieve business goals and EBITDA impact
  • Hire, develop, lead and retain high-performing talent and teams
  • Work closely with HQ ensure that the short and long range departmental objectives are consistent with company vision and strategy

Vendor Management

  • Establish and manage strategic vendor partnerships that mutually support the allocation process while minimizing costs and maximizing efficiencies
  • Redefine new vendor approval process and maintenance of Vendor data, including partnering with QA team on self-certification opportunities and status 
  • Establish and execute robust vendor on-boarding to engage Vendors in strategies and overall objectives and educate on J. Crew policies and procedures
  • Upgrade Vendor Manual, and supporting manuals, to reduce redundancy, reflect latest corporate policies, and effectively communicate J. Crew standards, expectations and chargeback policies
  • Maintain Vendor playbooks including Vendor and Factory capabilities, size of business, % of business dedicated to J. Crew to enable smart sourcing and allocation decisions 
  • Compiles and publishes quarterly vendor scorecards; plans and executes quarterly business reviews with top strategic vendor partners
  • Support AUC reduction strategies including vendor consolidation and trade preference penetration

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent required, ideally in Fashion Design, Clothing/Textiles or a related discipline
  • 15+ years previous related work experience in garment/textiles design, development and/or production in apparel
  • Comprehensive background in apparel sourcing from pre-production to production
  • Deep understanding of product development cycles, sourcing and supply chain management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to senior executives
  • Strong background in developing and maintaining vendor and supplier relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and execute various sourcing strategies (e.g. country migration, vendor consolidation, etc.)
  • Results orientation – tenacity, determination and drive to solve problems and create solutions despite challenges and obstacles
  • Strong business acumen, including negotiation skills
  • Highest level of personal and professional integrity and ethics
  • Ability to maintain a global perspective and demonstrate cultural sensitivity & awareness (adjust personal style to different cultures)
  • Demonstrated skill in bringing others together with diverse and sometimes conflicting ideas, approaches and points of view, and collaborating to reach appropriate decisions and solutions
  • Ability to influence key members of the organization; a team player with the capability to work across different stakeholder groups and hierarchies
  • Authenticity in leadership style; a personally engaging style with strong communication and listening skills
  • Strong excel savvy for creating models and data-driven dashboards, including data visualization
