Wholesale Logistics Analyst

The Wholesale Logistics Team is responsible for the operations and strategic direction of transportation and distribution of merchandise through J.Crew’s wholesale supply chain. The Logistics Analyst will be primarily focus on the day to day analysis and reporting functions related to Wholesale Logistics, as well as data and analytical support for strategic department initiatives and project management. The Logistics Analyst will interact externally with 3PL providers and carriers. Internally, the Logistics Analyst will partner with other branches of the Logistics Team, DC Operations, Inventory Management, Account Services, Supply Planning, and other internal groups.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyze and identify trends between forecasted and actual volumes throughout the supply chain from origin to final delivery
  • Communicate issues effectively, and ensures that issues are resolved in a timely manner, especially when communicating across time zones and cultures
  • Evaluate performance for key quality measures that impact the flow of freight.  Identify trends within the measures
  • Prepare and update business reporting as requested by the Logistics Team
  • Monitor and maintain existing Logistics and Transportation network while working with the Logistics Team on efficiencies to drive improved service and reduced cost
  • Develop successful peak planning tools and strategy with internal and external partners
  • Analyze and identify savings across all modes and segments of domestic, imports and international transportation & logistics including; parcel, truckload, LTL, air, ocean, and consolidation.  Savings may be related to time, cost, or both
  • Support contract negotiation and analysis through data mining and quantitative analysis
  • Define and document departmental carrier, and 3PL warehouse SOPs
  • Develop formal carrier and distribution scorecards. Develop performance reporting tools for inbound and outbound freight, as well as warehousing and distribution from our 3PL warehouse partners. Develop and enhance carrier service levels through scorecards and on time performance measurement tools
  • Work with freight payment provider and carriers to manage monthly carrier payment, reporting and analysis functions
  • Provide feedback and direction to other members of the Wholesale Logistics Team

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (or equivalent work experience)
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience with focus on logistics
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Supply chain and retail, especially fashion/soft lines, experience a plus
  • Microsoft Office skills required with strong Excel and Access skills preferred

Physical Requirements

  • An office position in a distribution center which requires minimum lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, grasping, bending, walking, climbing stairs, standing and stooping
  • Sit in a chair at a desk most of the time
  • Ability to type and read computer screen
