Manager of Accounting Operations

Overview: We are seeking a dynamic accounting professional with the capacity to lead a team of 7 – plus accounting staff members (3 direct reports). 


Reports to: Controller



  • Oversee the operations in the accounting shared services departments which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, indirect tax, and payroll. 
  • Responsible for talent management activities such as: hiring, promotions, transfers, training and development, providing regular direction and feedback on performance, disciplinary actions and preparing and delivering annual performance and salary reviews.
  • Help build our technology, people, and processes for the accounting shared service departments while we develop standalone processes post separation from our parent company.  
  • Ensure process documentation and internal controls are incompliance with company policies and supports statutory compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop short- and long-range operating objectives, organizational structure, staffing requirements and succession plans.
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives and foster a customer service culture, including reporting on KPIs and communications with stakeholders.
  • Create partnerships and build trust within the business, including Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, etc. Participate in cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of departmental training programs, including orientation materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs)



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA a plus
  • Experience: Minimum of 6+ years of management and leadership experience, including managing at least one of the accounting functions for a shared service center. Must have extensive knowledge working in multiple finance and business systems (e.g. ERP, HRIS, etc)
  • Soft Skills: Ability to lead by example, manage, motivate and relate to a diverse team with a wide range of education and experience. Comfortable with embracing what is working, while developing innovative solutions for current challenges. Ability to think creatively to connect a dynamically changing business environment to structured and compliant accounting operations departments.
