Director Supply Chain

Overview: The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for the identification and provision of Supply Chain solutions to enable category growth, speed and cost reduction.  Will be responsible for management of 3PL relationship and will be the face of supply chain operations to the Madewell organization.  Will work closely with cross functional business partners including Merchandising, Finance, and Sourcing to provide exceptional service.  



  • Ensuring that Supply Chain is aligned with the larger organizational goals that functions can scale to meet high growth expectations
  • Ensuring achievement of best in class order fulfillment
  • Participating in migration from current owned facility to 3PL
  • Creating internal infrastructure to support needs of all business partners, effectively managing all communication to and from 3PL partner
  • Managing 3PL output, productivity, and quality control, along with budgets, SLAs and contracts for location
  • Managing carrier relationships & negotiate contracts 
  • Overseeing import logistics function & process, maximizing shipping costs & time and transit 
  • Planning for peak season of significantly higher than normal volume during holiday
  • Leading D2C best practices from 3PL to the customer’s door
  • Incorporating additional 3PL facilities as needed to optimize ship times and costs
  • Participating in integration of ERP system with one or more 3PL facilities
  • Establishing reverse logistics processes and best practices
  • Ensure SLAs and KPIs are meeting expectations


  • Must have a minimum of 10+years’ experience within a dynamic high performing organization
  • Extensive Supply Chain and Logistics experience essential
  • 3PL management experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of 3PL process, layout, staffing, technology, and implementation
  • Domestic and International shipping experience
  • Knowledge of industry leading Supply Chain strategy and best practices
  • Omni channel retail business experience preferred
  • Knowledge of technology & future state fulfillment practices 
  • Deep level of knowledge with systems & process – WMS, ERP & internal operations
  • Excellent communication, multi-tasking, organizational and follow-up skills
  • Proficient in PC applications including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
