Technology Infrastructure Delivery & Operations Director

Reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Cloud and Servers: Reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Cloud and Servers; the Technology Infrastructure Delivery & Operations role is responsible for managing the delivery, and quality of robust, compliant, and cost-appropriate IT infrastructure services in support of ongoing Company business objectives.

 

This position will play an integral role in supporting the organization's data center and public cloud platforms through the infrastructure project and operations support delivery processes and as part of the infrastructure department at JCrew.  The ideal candidate will have a breadth of knowledge for managing the delivery of diverse infrastructures projects, including but not limited to public clouds, SaaS solutions, Windows/*nix servers, VPN/VDI and databases.  J.Crew offers a dynamic setting with many diverse projects and the candidate must be able to effectively juggle multiple high priority challenges.  This position will also be responsible for interfacing with various levels of the business; he/she will be required to assist other team members with projects as necessary.

 

  • This individual serves in a technology service delivery function that includes (hosted and managed service core platform hardware, public cloud platofrms and management of critical vendors that are instrumental in providing these services. Additionally, the role collaborates with business partners and technology stakeholders to develop and maintain an Infrastructure and operations strategy aligned to the business strategy. 
  • Lead the Technology Shared Services and Infrastructure project delivery, and operations using modern service management techniques 
  • Develop and maintain a infrastructure project roadmap focused on improving and adding new services to enhance business and operational productivity. 
  • Clearly communicate business value, project statistics, and issues to business sponsors.
  • Help define Technology infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes. 
  • Maintain and create supporting documentation as needed. 
  • Make recommendations for maturing and improving the Technology infrastructure and shared service.
  • Manage MSP’s and other service providers/vendors as needed within Technology infrastructure. 
  • Ensure services levels are met. 
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by leading the collaborative development of service level agreements, delivery in line with the SLAs through ongoing monitoring
  • Research business practices on a regular basis assessing fit with current and potential Technology Service providers, analyze business requirements by partnering with stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions for Technology needs
  • Function as a Subject Matter Expert on Technology Infrastructure Services and a wide variety of projects, issues, and strategies

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7 + years of experience working in Technology operations in retail with demonstrated experience leading a technology function in a large enterprise
  • Client-focused individual with experience building up an Technology Shared Services function in a growing complex business environment.
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong focus on improving operational efficiency and using automation
  • A collaborative management style and a strong customer service orientation.
  • Firm grasp on Technology infrastructure and operations best practices .
  • Excellent working knowledge in vendor management of Technology shared services for the following areas: Public Cloud, systems administration, virtual servers, data storage systems, M365, etc

 

Desired experience:

  • 7+ years progressive experience in infrastructure operations including hosting and managed services
  • Experience managing AWS public cloud computing platform
  • Strong familiarity with SaaS/PaaS/IaaS and associated operational and security implications
  • Experience with Microsoft O365 best practices 
  • Understanding of security and compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, etc)
  • Strong background in native Technology functions including network and systems architecture (LAN, WAN, DMZ, segmentation), OS management (windows/linux/mac), 
  • Experience working in an agile / devops environment and security aspects of CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of scripting / coding / configuration management languages such as bash, powershell, ansible, python, xml, yaml, json, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of Technology service management (e.g., ITIL-related disciplines):  Change management; Configuration management; Asset management; Incident management; Problem managemen
  • AWS, CISSP / CSSLP / CISA / CISM / ISSAP / CCSP / CEH or other certifications are a plus
