Men's Copywriter

​​MEN’S COPYWRITER

 

OVERVIEW

J.Crew is looking for a men’s copywriter to create and manage all men’s product copy, and to write copy for social media, site, email, and other channels as needed. In addition to being a strong writer, the candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, and adept at building relationships within J.Crew.

 

This copywriter would be responsible for writing, coordinating, and maintaining all copy related to online product descriptions, including naming products. Additionally, the copywriter would be responsible for contributing copy for our men's social media channels, with frequent opportunities to contribute elsewhere as needed.

 

In addition, the copywriter must be a strong cross-divisional partner with merchants, designers, marketing team members, and art directors.

 

 

THINK YOU WOULD ENJOY DOING THIS?

  • Research and write copy for men’s, including product descriptions, email, website, social media, print and more.

  • Collaborate with the merchandising and design teams to create accurate, compelling product stories for various platforms.

  • Work with proofreading and project management teams to organize product information and streamline processes.

  • Take the lead on product naming, from brainstorming ideas to securing legal approval.

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the job.

  • English, Journalism, Communications, or Advertising preferred.

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience (retail, advertising, marketing, publishing and/or editorial).

  • Talent for language, ability to write in a brand voice and a strong interest in fashion and marketing trends.

  • Organized, detail-oriented team player with creative problem solving and excellent communication skills.

  • Experience and interest in digital storytelling and the ever-changing world of men’s style

  • Flexibility & time management: ability to multitask, prioritize workload and take responsibility for deadlines.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and ensure that J.Crew’s materials look, feel, and sound on-brand. 

  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively.

  • Positive, self-starter attitude with a willingness to learn and self-edit with good humor.
