Manager - Email Marketing

Overview:

Reporting to the Director Digital Marketing for J.Crew, the Email Marketing Manager will oversee email marketing strategy, to drive online and in-store revenue for J.Crew. This person will manage two Email Marketing associates.

 

The Email Marketing Manager is also responsible for deploying daily emails, helping to manage a rigorous testing agenda, executing regular A/B tests, maintaining email list health and reporting on email performance. This position will have exposure to all aspects of email marketing and help drive the overall marketing effectiveness at J.Crew.  Expertise in email marketing at an eCommerce or retail company, with a demonstrated passion for the J.Crew brand, is preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all branding, promotional, and lifecycle (trigger) email marketing campaigns 
  • Perform regular analyses on email performance, generating insights and learnings to inform future improvements 
  • Create a robust segmentation strategy aimed at personalizing the customer journey and maximizing every touch point in the customer lifecycle 
  • Run email and cohort analyses with the ability to synthesize and communicate your findings
  • Develop a rigorous testing strategy to continually optimize these programs, including identifying opportunities to A/B test campaigns, with the goal of driving increased repeat purchase behavior from our lifecycle email program 
  • Monitor and develop new initiatives to drive list growth supporting retention 
  • Work with the creative team to manage and oversee all aspects of the lifecycle email development process (e.g., briefing design and copy teams, creative review, routing, and deployment) 
  • Set-up and deploy email campaigns for J.Crew business
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses and deep dives on emails and audiences
  • Utilize Omniture to report on email campaigns as well as site metrics 
  • Partner closely with Project Management, Site Operations, Planning, and Customer Insights team 
  • Elevate our email program with deeper levels of segmentation, targeting, and personalization
  • Assist with monthly budget management, reconciliations, and processing of invoices

 

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of related experience in email marketing
  • Strong analytical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Responsys ESP
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Omniture a plus
  • Critical thinker (creative and analytical) with email optimization tactics to improve performance
  • Organized, attention to detail
  • Understand the requirements for CAN-SPAM compliance as well as the nuances of email compliance internationally in various regulatory regimes (e.g., GDPR or CASL) 
  • Knowledge of email marketing industry and competitor brands
  • Interest in learning about marketing financials
  • Self-starter who exhibits curiosity 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple objectives within a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Very strong communication, presentation, and team-work skills 
  • Aptitude to think strategically but act tactically
