Overview:

The Maintenance Controls Technician will ensure proper and efficient operation of the distribution center facilities and equipment, supporting the business needs with minimal interruption, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, while maintaining / lowering cost. We are looking for a highly dedicated and highly skilled team player to fill this role and join our team at J. Crew.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format and completed with all required information.
  • Attend and practice all required training.
  • Perform predictive maintenance techniques on equipment to enhance uptime conditions.
  • Lead and develop technical team on Ladder Logic adjustments and troubleshooting
  • Completes preventative maintenance and other reliability tasks, assist in diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds of machines, partner with engineering or others on non-routine repairs and defect handling solutions.
  • Calibration of new and existing instruments, control valves, controllers, etc.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting of control loops, instruments, and/or entire control systems.
  • Able to be contacted in case of, and responds to, an emergency.
  • Able to read, modify, and troubleshoot through PLC and HMI codes.
  • Install VFD’s, program, and tune settings for proper operation.
  • Review, update, troubleshoot, and propose programming solutions
  • Provide ongoing training to the facilities teams and recommendations on utilization of emerging technologies, (controls, PLC’s, VFD’s and robotics, that may be beneficial in the DCs
  • Utilize root cause analysis thought process to ensure sustainability of corrective actions and/or improvements to drive asset reliability.
  • Effectively complete PMs as scheduled to eliminate unplanned downtime.
  • Proficient and diligent in use of CMMS system to track maintenance action items.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area, always maintaining audit ready status.
  • Communicates effectively with Production Leaders, Maintenance Leaders, Engineering, and other colleagues.
  • Supports plant production needs and priorities to achieve plant goals.
  • Facilitate, attend, and participate in team meetings and programs.
  • Assist, train, and coach employees.
  • Provide first line troubleshooting on process control systems, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Participate in regular and scheduled maintenance activities on Automation systems and infrastructure with vendor/contractor support and other internal and external maintenance functions.
  • Implement and support control system best practices under the direction of the Maintenance Manager
  • Comply with all regulations, policies, and procedures.

 

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent is required; 2-year technical/trade school degree is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing or related experience is required
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation and electrical installations (Motor Control Centers, etc.).
  • Expertise in controls systems from vendors (such as SDI, Crisplant and/or Wynright)
  • Solid knowledge and experience in packaging and warehouse automation controls and networks
  • Expertise with PLCs, Networking, SCADA systems, DCS systems, HMI, programming
  • Knowledge of scanners/cameras – Sick/Cognex/Reliance
  • Solid mechanical background
  • Experienced in process control systems
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Excellent in hardware and software development and skills.
  • Effective in understanding automation networks.
  • Be available for on call support during off-shift hours

 

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time 2nd shift
    • Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm
  • Overtime as needed
